Make your computer work for you and not the other way around
Sometimes it seems that information technology becomes a headache for many businesses. We spend precious hours thinking about how to fix a computer problem , improve PC performance or remove a virus that has sneaked in than working. All of that is money disguised as time.
Business employees are not there to fix computers. His mission is to work at his position and generate wealth. Nor can freelancers and entrepreneurs spend all day trying to fix a PC . When we dedicate ourselves to something that is not our thing, we tend to do it slowly, do it wrong or not do it at all, with the consequences that this implies.
That’s why it’s important to get computers to work for you and not the other way around. Realizing the amount of time we waste doing something that others could do much better and much faster for the same or less money that we are wasting by wanting to do it ourselves.
Change the chip: let the computer work for you
A computer is a work tool, like a bricklayer’s spatula or a tailor’s sewing machine. None of these workers can do their job optimally if they are given a tool that is damaged, substandard or years and years old. With computers, the same thing happens.
An employee who is not an IT expert is not paid to understand IT and manage IT equipment . Even if he has user-level knowledge, that doesn’t mean he can fix everything. It’s like putting someone who understands first aid to do open-heart surgery.
However, many managers of companies and SMEs forget this aspect. They let their employees be ultimately responsible for maintaining the computer , when some probably have more or less limited user-level knowledge. At the very least, if some tasks are going to be carried out by non-IT people, they definitely need some training.
Why separate IT from work?
Separating this task helps to work better, faster, face crisis situations and makes employees not have to waste an hour of their time repairing computers , analyzing the hard drive, formatting or cleaning the computers inside. And the most complicated: keep up to date with what’s new .
In an SME with two laptops, what we say may be irrelevant, although the tendency will be to stay behind. But if you have 5 or 6 networked computers in the office working for you, my friend, you are wasting a lot of potential if you don’t have someone checking that everything is in order. The complexity of maintenance and repair increases.
